Our pets can’t tell us where it hurts, and they’re often experts at hiding pain and illness. That’s why fast, accurate diagnostic imaging is so important. At Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital, we offer both digital radiology and ultrasound services in-house, giving our team the tools to see what’s happening beneath the surface.
Digital Radiology
Digital X-rays are faster, safer, and more detailed than traditional film. They produce less radiation, deliver crisp images almost instantly, and can be easily shared with other facilities when needed. Our team uses digital radiology to detect fractures, foreign bodies, and tumors, as well as to evaluate the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound provides real-time, moving images of your pet’s internal organs and structures. It’s especially useful for evaluating abdominal organs such as the stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen, and gallbladder, and can be essential for identifying intestinal foreign bodies or tumors. An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) provides detailed information about heart valves, blood flow, and chamber size.
Depending on your pet’s situation, the best approach may be X-rays, ultrasound, or both. We often use them together to get the most complete picture possible.
Imaging for Every Stage of Care
Diagnostic imaging isn’t just for sick or injured pets. Radiology and ultrasound can play an important role in pre-surgical screenings, helping our team plan the safest approach for your pet’s procedure. They’re also a valuable part of routine wellness care for senior pets, allowing us to monitor changes over time and catch potential issues early.
