Our Staff

Katy and Sassafrass

 Katy Gonda, RVT:

Katy Gonda began working at Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital in August of 2014.  Previously she worked as a Veterinary Assistant at San Geronimo Valley Veterinary Clinic.  She received her Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in May of 2017.

Katy enjoys all aspects of being a Veterinary Technician, but especially enjoys directly caring for the patients.  Prior to becoming a Vet Tech she worked for several years producing farmstead sheep and goat’s milk aged cheeses on a licensed creamery in Washington State. She also has received a certification in sheep shearing.

Katy is the proud owner of Sassafras, a spunky Calico kitty, and seven Angora bunnies named Haas, Littler, Fiona, Polly, Penny, Parsnip and Peter.  She lives in San Geronimo with her husband, Jelani. In their spare time you might find them riding bicycles along the roads of West Marin.  She is an avid gardener and spins yarn from her Angora bunnies.

Rebecca Hancorne, Veterinary Technician:

Rebecca is new to the veterinary community, but she has always been an animal lover. She is currently working on an Associate’s Degree in Biology at College of Marin. She recently finished with an Associate’s Degree in English in December of 2015, also from College of Marin. Rebecca has been with the Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital since May 2016. She is currently working on training as a veterinary assistant. Rebecca worked in a bookstore prior to joining Ross Valley but her passion and love for animals drove her to seek a new path.

Rebecca can often be caught with a book nearby. She spends most of her time with her boyfriend, Teddy, and her family, including her Heeler-Kelpie mix, Izzy Bear, and her cat, Fluffy. Rebecca also enjoys going to zoos from all over, including the San Francisco Zoo, where she does her own wildlife photography.

Rebecca loves learning about the animals and people around her. There is always a new animal to meet or an old animal to comfort. She loves working with the doctors and staff in a hands-on environment. She is interested in both small animals, like the cats and dogs that walk through the doors every day, and large animals, like those she spends time photographing.

Jenni and Petey

Jenni Lin, Veterinary Technician:

Jenni has been a tech for 15 years, working with small animals. She graduated from Mills College with a double major in Computer Science and Psychology in 1985. She joined the Ross Valley family in April 2015. She enjoys the positive interactions with clients, assisting in surgery and is interested in veterinary dentistry and physical rehabilitation. She has taught dog training classes and behavior consultations at the Marin Humane Society, and conducts private lessons.

Jenni lives in Novato with her husband, Dan, and her daughter, Olivia. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, camping, and going to the beach with her two Labradors, Petey, and Tule.

Mary and Jackie

Mary Stompe, Client Services, Veterinary Technician, Canine Behavior Consultant:

Mary is very excited to be a part of the team at Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital! She looks forward to learning more about customer service and animal health as she works at the hospital. The best part of Mary's job is interacting with the people and pets that come through the doors every day.

Mary has loved animals her whole life, and has always let that passion lead her. After declaring to her family at age 8 that she wanted to be a vet, Mary and her parents planned the rest of her public schooling so that she could get into UC Davis. While studying at Davis, Mary met Dr. Sophia Yin, a vet who became an animal behaviorist. Working with Dr. Yin inspired Mary into a dream change. Since graduating with a BS in Animal Biology in 2014, Mary has turned her focus to animal behavior and training.

Mary has returned to volunteering at the Marin Humane Society, something that she did consistently throughout Middle and High School. Now she volunteers as a Dog Training Assistant, learning ever more about training and canine behavior. Between Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital and the Marin Humane Society, Mary is surrounded by animals and the people who love them, which is exactly where she always wanted to be!

Lyn with Vinnie and Gitta.

 Lyn Giammona, Client Services:

My name is Lyn Giammona and I’ve been at Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital since July 15, 2014.

I lived in Panama for the first five years of my life, and then my father was invited to be the first Pediatrician in Petaluma, so we moved there. It was a good “fit”, so we stayed. I attended the local schools, and then went to San Francisco State College. I started my animal related experience working at a dog training and boarding facility in Petaluma 4 years ago. To further my knowledge and experience, when an opening came up at Ross Valley, my daughter, Emily, who was a technician here, suggested I apply. Thankfully, I did, and was hired.

Although my major in college was totally unrelated (music and P.E), working here has been an absolute joy. The team I get to work with daily is superb, and the animals… well it doesn’t get much better than getting to greet dogs and cats every day.

Thanks for letting us take care of your precious pets!!!

Mike Gaspers, Facilities Manager:

I was born in San Francisco, California. Having lived in scenic Marin County since age three—and we always had pets when I was growing up.

I've grown to appreciate the beautiful kingdoms of plants and animals we've been blessed with—here and worldwide.

I've been working at Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital since August, 1993.
